Growing and Reaching Milestones
After a community-wide naming contest, our new mascot, Pathfinder, was unveiled in December. A #TAMUCT Pathfinder is a leader who goes ahead to discover and show the way to others. This new name and mascot is a perfect representation of our Warriors!
A&M-Central Texas achieved designation as a Hispanic-Serving Institution from the Department of Education, exceeding the threshold of 25% Hispanic enrollment. This designation opens federal funding opportunities focused on expanding educational opportunities, including post-baccalaureate degrees, for Hispanic and low-income students.
The Texas State Legislature passed SB52 and SB8, which will give A&M-Central Texas $45 million to build a Centralized Operational Reliability and Efficiency (CORE) facility. CORE will serve as the essential backbone and hub for current facilities and for future campus development. The new facility will also house base operations for the University Police Department, an Emergency Operations Center and other CORE operations.
Increasing Academic Offerings
The university added two new degrees this year, Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Psychology.
The BS Anthropology at A&M-Central Texas is a generalist degree, giving students foundations in Cultural Anthropology, Biological Anthropology, and Archaeology. Students may choose to specialize in a certain area through course electives.
The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree in Psychology prepares students who have earned technical, vocational, or military education to advance in their careers and to pursue graduate study in psychology and related fields.
