Effective June 1, 2022, Dr. Andria Schwegler will assume the role of Chair of the Department of Counseling & Psychology. Joining her on August 22, 2022, Dr. Jeremy Berry will assume the role of Associate Chair of the Department.

The co-chair roles are an innovative response in a broader cultural shift to redefine work, which began with widespread access to the internet and evolved rapidly during the COVID-19 pandemic when many employers pivoted to online operations to protect the health and safety of the workforce.

These roles enable collaborative coordination of the subject matter expertise in the department that includes programs in psychology (BAAS Psychology, BS Psychology, MS Educational Psychology, Specialist in School Psychology) and counseling (MS Clinical Mental Health Counseling, MS Marriage and Family Therapy).

In the department, Dr. Schwegler will assume responsibility for psychology-related issues, undergraduate program administration, student retention and success, personnel development and management, and curriculum design among other duties.

Dr. Berry will assume responsibility for counseling-related issues, graduate program administration, administrative support for the Community Counseling and Family Therapy Center, and development of counselor education resources among other duties.

Department faculty look forward to working with our students in the upcoming academic year and wish Dr. Sam Fiala well as he departs the Chair role to serve as Assistant Provost and Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs.
