Shared Psychotic Disorder

Treatments

Physical Separation

Treatment Summary: The initial treatment is to physically separate the two (or more) people who have the disorder, since their delusional thoughts feed off each other. Medication is often most often given in addition to separation. Recently studies suggest cognitive-behavioral intervention in the early stages of illness for the treatment of hallucinations and dilutions.
