Mathematics Disorder

Treatments

Diagrams(schematic)

Treatment Summary: Students with a learning disorder in math are instructed to use diagrams to solve word problems. According to the study this type of treatment increased their performance when they solved one to two step word problems. The students learned to use a schematic diagram to work higher level problems. The students improved tremendously by using the schematic diagram which reflected on their posttest scores. This strategy of instruction improved the students overall problem solving abilities for one to two step computational word problems.
