Texas A&M University–Central Texas is once again proving its superior commitment to transfer students.

Texas A&M University–Central Texas is once again proving its superior commitment to transfer students, being named to the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society’s Transfer Honor Roll for 2025. This recognition is granted to only 25% of the colleges and universities throughout the nation that demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting transfer students.

“At A&M–Central Texas, we don’t just welcome transfer students, we’re built for them,” said Loida González Utley, Director of Recruitment and Enrollment Services.

As the state’s only upper-level university, all of A&M–Central Texas’ undergraduate students are transfer students. The university works closely with community colleges, providing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreements that make the transfer process seamless. Students from its nine community college partners benefit from more than 2,700 degree pathways showing how their community college credits feed directly into A&M–Central Texas degree programs.

González explained that begin transfer friendly, however, is about more than just making the process easy.

“Transfer students are my passion,” she said. “Being transfer receptive means more than accepting credits. It means listening to students, adapting to their needs, and removing obstacles that stand in the way of their success.”

The PTK Transfer Honor Roll is determined by 40 key metrics related to the support and success of transfer students, including college cost and financial aid, campus life for transfers, admission practices, and bachelor’s degree completion.

González said A&M–Central Texas’ inclusion on the Honor Roll highlights the university’s intentional approach to providing support to transfer students looking to complete a bachelor’s degree. The university has dedicated admissions counseling, generous financial aid opportunities, and academic options that include face-to-face and online classes. The university is also among the most affordable in the nation, keeping out-of-pocket costs low.

“This recognition reinforces our deep commitment to Central Texas. We exist to serve this region, and we are proud to be a university that provides accessible, high-quality pathways for students who want to stay, work and lead right here in their communities,” González said.

A&M–Central Texas was established in 2009 to serve students throughout Central Texas. The university has developed systems, resources, and a culture that make it a national leader in transfer student success, and it is currently expanding its partnership with Temple College to include teaching full degree programs at the Temple College campus. An official announcement will be made later this fall.
