Texas A&M University–Central Texas is organizing a School Supply Drive to help enrolled student parents with school-aged children in preparing for the upcoming academic year.
The initiative, supported by the Warrior Center for Student Success and the Student Campus Activities Board, aims to ease the financial and logistical burdens frequently experienced by student caregivers who are simultaneously managing coursework, employment responsibilities, and family life. Nationally, about 22 percent of undergraduate students are parents (U.S. Government Accountability Office, 2019), and many report high levels of unmet needs and resource insecurity.
The university is collecting new, age-appropriate school supplies, including but not limited to backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, erasers, highlighters, glue sticks, rulers, scissors, and similar items. Donation boxes will be located in the lobby of every campus building until Aug. 1.
All collected items will be distributed confidentially to A&M–Central Texas students with school-aged children on Tuesday, Aug. 5, by the Warrior Center for Student.
