Psi Chi Honor Society Adds 27 New Inductees

KILLEEN — Texas A&M University–Central Texas inducted 27 students into Psi Chi honor society during a ceremony April 11, marking the chapter’s third year of inductions since its founding.

Psi Chi is an international honor society that recognizes high-achieving psychology students. To qualify, students must complete a set number of psychology courses, maintain at least 3.0 GPA and rank within the top 35 percent of their class. The 2026 inductees included 11 undergraduate and 16 graduate students who met those national standards.

Founded in 1929, the honor society has more than 1,150 chapters, and membership is recognized in graduate school admissions and psychology-related careers. The university inducted about 40 students during its inaugural ceremony in 2024, followed by 32 in 2025. The Psi Chi chapter at TAMUCT was named a National Model Chapter for the 2024-2025 academic year, placing it among approximately 40 chapters recognized globally for active membership, programming and engagement

“Being inducted into Psi Chi is both an accomplishment and a beginning,” said Dr. Malin, Lilley, assistant professor of psychology and a Psi Chi faculty advisor.

“It opens the door to more opportunities, scholarships, and professional development.”

Tyler Stafford, a psychology major and Psi Chi chapter president who is set to graduate in May 2026 and plans to pursue graduate school, said the organization shaped her academic path.

“I struggled a lot with education. I was not a school person at all whatsoever,” Stafford said. “But finding Psi Chi really gave me the motivation to keep going and keep pushing myself.”
