Texas A&M University-Central Texas to host Lake Georgetown Hike
By Demetra Paizanis,
Communications Coordinator –

Texas A&M University-Central Texas will host a group hike covering about 6 miles of the Goodwater Loop at Lake Georgetown Friday, Sept. 18. The excursion is open to A&M-Central Texas students, faculty and staff.
Participants will meet in the Heritage Hall lobby outside the Fitness Center and travel in a university passenger van. The group is expected to depart campus at 9 a.m. and return at approximately 3 p.m.
The approximately four-hour hike will follow mostly flat dirt and rock trails with mild elevation changes. Comfortable activewear, a daypack and 1 to 2 liters of water are recommended. Lunch will be provided.
“Lake Georgetown is my favorite trip we take because it’s close and there is a 26-mile loop around it with multiple trailheads, so it’s a quick and easy trip for us,” said Jeremy Abshire, associate director of Campus Recreation. “Zero hiking experience is necessary.”
Registration is limited to 10 participants and remains open through Friday, Sept. 11, at the Fitness Center in Heritage Hall. The fee is $15 for Campus Recreation members and $25 for nonmembers.
