Texas A&M University-Central Texas to host research and innovation symposium

Texas A&M University-Central Texas will host the Central Texas Research & Innovation Symposium, a regional forum focused on moving research and emerging technologies into practical use, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept 24, in the Bill Yowell Conference Center in Warrior Hall.
Co-hosted with Trideum Corporation under the theme “From Research to Real-World Impact: Securing, Scaling, and Accelerating Innovation,” the symposium will include researchers, educators, students, entrepreneurs and representatives from defense, industry, government, economic development and community organizations. Sessions will focus on defense applications, technology transition and workforce development supporting national defense and regional economic growth.
“We want this to be more than a series of presentations,” said Gene C. Lutz, symposium lead. “The symposium is intended to create conversations and connections among people who may be working on different parts of the same problem but do not routinely have an opportunity to interact.”
James Rebesco, CEO of Striveworks and a member of the Army Science Board, will deliver the morning research keynote, “Emerging Research Shaping the Future of Defense and Industry.” Four research presentations will address artificial intelligence and machine learning, data and digital engineering, cybersecurity and advanced manufacturing.
The afternoon program will begin with “From Research to Reality: Scaling Innovation for Mission Impact,” an innovation keynote by Clayton Huber, director of workforce development at the Texas A&M Semiconductor Institute. Presentations will explore scalable artificial intelligence, transitioning capabilities into operational use, scaling prototypes into programs of record and identifying capability gaps.
Panel question-and-answer sessions will follow the morning and afternoon presentations. A light breakfast and coffee will be provided by The Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation and lunch will be provided by Trideum.
Registration costs $25 per person and will close Sept. 10. Organizations may purchase a table for $175, which includes seating for seven attendees.
