ROTC Cadet Selected for Prestigious Public Policy Internship at The National War College

Killeen resident and A&M-Central Texas U.S. Army ROTC cadet, Chris Landry, is less than six months away from earning his undergraduate degree in business and a commission as a second lieutenant in the Army – both of which he hopes to celebrate in May 2026.

Currently a senior, Landry is full-time business student, an operations officer of a thriving and growing University ROTC program leading 45 other cadets, a former Fort Hood E-7, a girl dad, and a man very recently betrothed.

In the midst of what may well seem to be quite a full plate of responsibilities, Landry is about to embark on one more defining experience: a coveted internship with The National War College as a part of the Public Policy Scholars Program coordinated by The Texas A&M University System Office of Academic Affairs and the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University.

“To be in Washington, D.C. and an intern at The National War College where the best and the brightest are teaching the best and the brightest is almost beyond my wildest dreams,” Landy said, expressing his gratitude for the Texas A&M University System and the Bush School for everything they have done to welcome him into the program.

Landry says his role will focus on supporting The National War College with on-going training programs, assisting with research and curricular development, and pursuing his own research.

He expects to complete his degree coursework via a combination of online and in-person classes at the Bush School in D.C. and return to Central Texas where he anticipates completing the University’s ROTC program and receiving his commission as a U.S. Army second lieutenant and his undergraduate degree with highest honors.
