Two Texas A&M University–Central Texas employees, Associate Director of Enrollment Services, Gregory Bourgeois, and ROTC Operations Coordinator and College of Arts and Sciences Advisor, Robert Wells, were awarded the Got Your 6 Award by the university’s Military and Veterans Services (MVS) office last week. Both are former U.S. Army enlisted men.
MVS also honored more than 30 veterans receiving their degrees in the 2025 December Commencement on Dec. 12, including one Purple Heart recipient and graduate, Christina Beauchamp, an Iraqi War veteran injured by a roadside explosive in battle.
Military and Veterans Services Director James Dalton praised Bourgeois and Wells for their devotion to veterans and military-affiliated students including the university’s U.S. Army ROTC cadets.
“Greg is always willing to roll up his sleeves and chip-in to support our veterans who are working on their degree,” Dalton said.
“He goes above and beyond every time, no matter what the challenge is, and he has been a crucial part of our events to recognize veterans. Just say his name, and everyone has the same thought, ‘He is such an amazing guy.’”
Dalton also praised Wells, adding that the same is true of him. For any question, for any concern, or any intervention on behalf of a veteran student or an ROTC cadet, Dalton said that Wells is right there – out front and standing beside any student veteran or cadet who needs a hand.
Both men, Dalton adds, are not the kind of people to seek out the limelight but are completely devoted to student veterans and making sure their educational journey is purposeful and positive.
“Robert is a completely tireless ally and has ensured that all our student veterans receive the academic credit they are entitled to for their military service,” he said. “He has truly been a steady hand in support of students from admission to graduation and his impact continues to grow with every cadet that commissions or student veteran that graduates and continues to serve their communities.”
