Dr. Rebecca McPherson, SPHR is an Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management at Texas A&M University–Central Texas, faculty sponsor for SHRM student chapter #5395, and faculty advisor for the MBA HRM emphasis and BBA HRM-SHRM aligned program. As a Human Resource (HR) practitioner, she has a background in the field of HR management and is certified as a senior professional in HR management (SPHR). She received her Ph.D. in Educational Human Resource Development from Texas A&M University in 2012 and began teaching at TAMUCT in 2014. Her research specializes in job mobility and developing a qualified workforce. She currently has six publications with several ongoing job mobility research projects including ADAAA compliance and handler-service dog team’s job mobility; a staffing perspective of low qualified talent crossing organizations; and an HRM perspective of job mobility signals from informal learning, non-formal learning, and stretch assignments. As the HR faculty advisor, Dr. Rebecca draws on her previous HR experience providing HR students with career advice, coaching, and resume assistance as well as facilitating BBA HRM students’ self-management of eligibility criteria for SHRM-CP certification. As a faculty sponsor of the SHRM #5395 student chapter, Dr. Rebecca supports students’ HR skill development and networking through solicitation of guest speakers, internships, and an opportunity to attend a three-day conference in Fort Worth-HR Southwest.
