Texas A&M University-Central Texas to host Maximum Fine Escape Room

Texas A&M University-Central Texas will host The Maximum Fine Escape Room, a free 15-minute library-themed puzzle game, from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 31, in the Library Classroom, Room 203, of Warrior Hall. The event is open to all students, faculty and staff.

Registration is available on a first-come, first-serve basis and closes at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27. Participants may register individually or in teams of four.

Players will use research and logic to solve clues while learning about library services and resources. Hints and reference materials will be available as needed.

The same game will be available online. Registrants must select the online or in-person format when signing up. In-person participants will receive confirmed game times Friday morning, Aug. 28, while online participants will receive a game link Monday morning, Aug. 31.

Kelly Williams, reference and instruction librarian, designed the game and will serve as lead facilitator.

“We are not a quintessential ‘shush-er’ type of library,” Williams said. “Overall, we wanted a fun way for the campus community to learn the basics of the library.”

The event also will include a prize drawing.
