Texas A&M University-Central Texas to Host AI Policies Workshop

Texas A&M University-Central Texas will host “Can I Use AI for That?,” a free workshop designed to help students interpret campus and course-specific policies governing the use of artificial intelligence in coursework. The workshop will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, in the Library Classroom in Warrior Hall, Room 203, with an online option available through Microsoft Teams. Students, faculty, and staff may attend.

Using examples from faculty syllabi and assignments, the workshop will show attendees where AI guidance may appear in academic integrity policies, assignment instructions, and Canvas materials. Two academic librarians and a library technology specialist will also explain AI tools available through the university, citation expectations when AI use is permitted, and methods for verifying AI-generated information with research sources.

“Before using AI for an assignment, students should read over the syllabus thoroughly and then ask any follow-up questions directly to their professor,” said Michelle Shea, co-head of public services and associate librarian.

In-person participants may bring a laptop, but all required materials will be provided.
