Texas A&M University-Central Texas to host Warrior Dance Hall

Texas A&M University-Central Texas will host Back to Our Roots: Warrior Dance Hall, a free Western dance event, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, in Heritage Hall.

Presented by the Rodeo & Western Club, the evening will open with 30 to 60 minutes of instruction in the Texas two-step, country swing and line dances on the first floor of Heritage Hall, followed by social dancing. No previous experience or partner is required. Club members will help attendees practice steps and find partners.

Back to Our Roots honors the club’s first Dance Hall, which brought students from different backgrounds together through dancing, games, food and community.

“We want first-time attendees to walk in, have fun, meet new people, and leave feeling connected to the campus community,” said Abrianna Christina Little, president of the Rodeo & Western Club.

An outdoor cornhole tournament for individual competitors will award trophies to first-, second-, and third- place finishers. Western attire and boots are encouraged, with prizes for Best Dressed and Best Boots.

Complimentary finger foods, water and tea will be available, and mocktails will be sold at an upstairs bar accessible by elevator. Tickets for a 50-50 raffle will cost $1 each, and the winner will receive a gift card valued at half the proceeds.

Walk-ins are welcome, and attendees will sign in at the door.
