Dr. Judy Schaffer is an Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction at Texas A&M University–Central Texas, where she serves as the B.S. in Education Program Coordinator and Program Lead for the CBF Raising Texas Teachers Scholarship. She earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas Tech University and holds master’s degrees in Educational Administration and Technical Communication and Rhetoric.

Her scholarship focuses on how teacher candidates develop professional judgment through instructional planning, writing, curriculum interpretation, and authentic professional experiences. Her research draws on teacher education, literacy, curriculum studies, and rhetoric to examine how future teachers learn to make and justify instructional decisions.

Dr. Schaffer brings extensive experience in K–12 and higher education, including classroom teaching, instructional coaching, literacy intervention, curriculum development, and teacher preparation. Her teaching emphasizes inquiry, reflective practice, and community-engaged learning. Her scholarship has appeared in Literacy Practice and Research, and she has presented at national conferences on curriculum, writing, artificial intelligence, and teacher education.
