Christin Aletky, DSW, LCSW-S, LCDC
Assistant Professor of Social Work, Program DirectorBiography
Dr. Christin “Christy” Aletky is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program at Texas A&M University–Central Texas. She holds a Doctor of Social Work (2025) from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Social Work (2013) and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (2009) from The University of Texas at Austin. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board-Approved Supervisor (LCSW-S) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in Texas. At TAMUCT, she teaches Introduction to Social Work, Mezzo Practice, Social Welfare Policy, and Substance Use Disorders.
Her research examines power, coercion, and institutional accountability, with a focus on adult sexual grooming (ASG). She is first author of a systematic review that found major gaps in the ASG literature, including the lack of a definition specific to adults. She also wrote a conceptual paper (in press) arguing that ASG should be distinguished from models built on child grooming. Her current work analyzes 116 survivor narratives to develop the Contradictory Consent Culture framework and a multi-level practice model for responding to the grooming of adults within rigid power structures. She has presented internationally, including at the International Federation of Social Workers Conference in Oslo, Norway.
Dr. Aletky has more than 15 years of practice experience. She began as a chemical dependency counselor with probation departments, incarcerated populations, and specialty courts. At the Samaritan Center in Austin, she directed military programs and supervised clinicians across Texas. In 2017 she founded a private practice serving veterans, service members, and justice-involved clients, and she has served as an expert witness in criminal and civil cases. She previously taught in the BSW and MSW programs at The University of Texas at Austin.
Before entering social work, she served six years in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear- qualified machinist’s mate aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt.
