College of Business Administration Recognizes Top Students

The College of Business Administration at Texas A&M University–Central Texas recognized its top students and faculty Thursday evening at a special awards banquet. Graduate and undergraduate students were recognized for the outstanding achievement in each academic discipline.
Faculty and staff members were also recognized for excellence, and Dr. Lavanya Elluri was awarded the two-year Ruqayya Faculty Fellowship in Computer Information Systems. The Fellowship, funded by the Subhani Foundation, is named after Ruqayya Subhani, the mother of Abdul Subhani who established the foundation. The group is also responsible for the naming of the Abdul Subhani Department of Computer Information Systems.
Nancy Patterson, representing the Subhani Foundation, presented the fellowship award and explained the Ruqayya, who lives in Pakistan, is a huge proponent of education saying, “it is the great equalizer.” The fellowship funds professional development and research in areas such as information systems, information technology, and cybersecurity.
Todd Fox, president of First Heroes National Bank, provided the challenge to students, encouraging them to focus on humility, curiosity, and gratitude throughout their careers.
“If you stay humble, it will keep you curious, then you will have gratitude for your opportunities,” he said.
He said it’s important to be surrounded by people who keep you humble, curious and “thankful for what you have and what it took to get there.”
He concluded his remarks by challenging tomorrow’s business leaders to “lead with integrity, innovate quickly, and always build a team wherever they go.”
