Community College students have a clear, affordable path to a bachelor’s degree through Central Texas Direct (CT Direct).

CT Direct is for any high school student taking college credit, Early College High School students, and current community college students who want to earn a bachelor’s degree through a more affordable and streamlined process. Students begin their college journey at one of A&M–Central Texas’ Community College partners, complete the courses required for transfer, and then move to A&M–Central Texas to finish their degree.

CT Direct removes common obstacles that can slow students down by providing:

What is the next step?

Students applying to Community College need to indicate on the application form that they are interested in CT Direct or in attending A&M–Central Texas. This should be a check box on the Community College application.

The benefits of CT Direct

CT-Direct was created to make the path to a bachelor’s degree easier to navigate. The program helps students:

Instead of trying to figure out transfer steps alone, students receive a guided pathway with clear expectations and consistent support.

Through this pathway, students can expect:

  • A direct plan for enrolling at Community College then transferring to A&M–Central Texas.
  • Guaranteed acceptance to A&M–Central Texas for students who complete the transfer criteria.
  • Joint advising and degree mapping between the Community College partner and TAMUCT.
  • Transfer Workshops that help prepare students for the next step.
  • Automatic enrollment into the Transfer Central program at A&M–Central Texas, providing additional benefits.

For many students and families, starting at Community College is a practical and cost-effective way to begin working toward a bachelor’s degree. CT Direct strengthens that option by creating a more direct connection to A&M–Central Texas. What does the degree cost?

The total average cost of tuition and fees for a bachelor’s degree is less than $22,000. This is based on the 2025-26 average costs of attendance report to the state, using Temple College rates. It represents 2 years at Temple College and 2 years at A&M–Central Texas. Rates will vary based on the Community College partner. In addition, participating in CT Direct costs nothing. And, if students take dual-credit courses in high school, the cost is even lower.

Starting at Community College can help students lower costs, stay close to home, and complete needed coursework before transferring to A&M–Central Texas.

CT Direct simplifies the process through a data-sharing agreement between the Community College and A&M–Central Texas. Through this process, students will not have to apply, transcripts will be shared between the schools. There are no additional application or transcripts fees.

Students will also be automatically enrolled in Transfer Central at no additional cost where they will receive additional benefits such as joint advising, degree mapping, continual academic planning, and transition workshops that prepare students to transfer successfully.

Yes. Through their automatic enrollment in Transfer Central joint advising and degree mapping are designed to help students take only the classes they need for their intended bachelor’s degree.

Yes. One goal of the pathway is to reduce administrative complexity for both students and guardians by making the admissions and transfer process easier to understand and navigate.

Students who choose the Community College to A&M–Central Texas educational route pay approximately $22,000 in tuition and fees over the course of their degree. (Based on the Temple College to A&M–Central Texas connection.) Some costs will vary based on course structure, choice of Community College partners, and differences in cost between online and face-to-face classes.

The traditional bachelor’s degree is 120 credit hours (3 hours per class). Earning 30 credits per year (two long semesters), it will take you 4 years to complete your degree.

You can shorten the length of time by taking more hours per term. A&M–Central Texas offers a program that locks your tuition at 12 hours per term, meaning you can take an additional class or two with no additional charge for tuition. Students may also take advantage of classes offered in summer terms.
