Distinguished Warrior Awards Ceremony Set for Oct. 13

Texas A&M University–Central Texas will hold its annual Distinguished Warrior Awards on Oct. 13. The ceremony recognizes individuals for their exceptional accomplishments, leadership and meaningful contributions to the university and the broader community.

Tickets for the banquet are $40 for individuals or $250 for a table that seats six. Sponsorships are also available. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Kristle Castillo at [email protected].

The 2026 award recipients are Julie Escamilla, Matt Yowell, and Dell Ingram Walker.

Throughout her career, Escamilla exemplifies the transformative power of education, leadership and service. A two-time graduate of A&M–Central Texas, she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in human resource management and a Master of Education in higher education leadership.

Escamilla serves as dean of Workforce and Continuing Education at Temple College where she leads innovative programs that connect education with industry needs through workforce training, career pathways, entrepreneurship initiatives and community education.

Yowell, chief executive officer of Yowell Legacy Capital, is a graduate of A&M–Central Texas who has built a reputation for leading with integrity, generosity and a belief in the power of community engagement. Through his work, he helps create economic opportunities and invests in the continued growth and prosperity of Central Texas communities.

As board chair of the Texas A&M University–Central Texas Foundation, Yowell has advanced the university’s mission, strengthening its connection to the community.

Walker is being recognized posthumously for her visionary leadership, compassion and commitment to improving the lives of children and families throughout Central Texas. She earned her Master of Business Administration degree at A&M–Central Texas and used her education to drive meaningful change within healthcare and the communities she served.

Walker spent 19 years with Baylor Scott & White Health, advancing through leadership roles and ultimately serving as president of Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Hospital. She ensured that children and families remained at the center of every decision, expanding access to high-quality pediatric care.

The Distinguished Warrior Award ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Bill Yowell Conference Center on the A&M–Central Texas campus.
