A&M–Central Texas’ accredited 12-hour Tax Compliance and Planning Certificate for graduate students provides experience and best practices drawn from the front lines of modern tax compliance and tax law. With study of formation and capital structures, contemporary tax-issue research methods, advanced family planning, property valuation and more, the A&M–Central Texas certificate program is a powerful overview for managerial- and C-level professionals looking to thoroughly understand the tax compliance and planning landscape.

Tax Compliance and Planning Certificate courses may be used to satisfy the 150-hour educational requirement needed for CPA licensure in most states.

The A&M–Central Texas Tax Compliance and Planning Certificate gives early- to mid-career accounting and tax professionals advanced career knowledge and skills, and benefits tax professionals in need of additional credit hours to qualify to sit for the CPA exam.

Program Benefits and Learning Outcomes

In four high-value courses delivered in 8-week semesters, students learn important practices and principles for tax compliance and planning, including:

  • Analyzing formation and capital structures, partial liquidations, S Corporations, accumulated earnings tax, and personal holding companies.
  • Developing technical and research skills needed to address contemporary tax issues. Participants study tax issues, formulate research questions and develop the research skills needed to address them. The certificate program includes special emphasis on major tax services, evaluating relevant authorities, communicating findings in a professionally written research memorandum, familiarization of federal tax policies and procedures, and the authorities that govern tax practice.
  • Reviewing current business law topics concerning accountants and governing their practice and work with clients.
  • Understanding federal estate and gift taxation, as well as advanced family tax planning. Participants research issues in taxation of decedent’s estate and lifetime gifts, and valuation of properties subject to gift and estate taxes.

Tuition and Fees

Tuition and fees for the undergraduate and graduate certificates are based on the number of credit hours taken per semester, and are approved for federal Title IV financial assistance.

Installment Payment Plan options

A&M-Central Texas offers an Installment Payment Plan each semester to help you with paying for current-term balances. The IPP breaks your tuition and fees into four (for Fall and Spring semesters) or three (Summer semester) payments due throughout the semester, with a one-time, non-refundable service fee of $20 and the first installment due on the first day of class.
