Two newly-implemented financial assistance programs, with initial funding provided by the A&M-Central Texas Foundation, are now available to families with adjusted gross incomes less than $40,000 per year and to military service students.

The Central Texas Promise guarantees that tuition and mandatory fees will be covered for eligible new undergraduate transfer students, using a combination of various forms of non-loan financial aid and College Promise funds allocated by the Foundation.

Eligibility requirements require new undergraduate degree-seeking Texas residents, demonstrate an adjusted gross income of $40,000 or less, enrolled full-time, have a 2.5 GPA, and the completion of a federal financial aid application (FAFSA).

The Military Advantage program is designed to support the educational goals of those in uniform, providing supplemental financial resources to qualifying service members to reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket expenses for tuition and mandatory fees.

Eligibility requirements cite that new or continuing students to be active duty, National Guard (state or federal) or a reserve service member, degree-seeking and enrolled in courses applicable to a degree, complete residency evaluation process, meet satisfactory academic progress, and the completion of a federal financial aid application (FAFSA).

A&M-Central Texas' University President, Dr. Marc Nigliazzo, expressed his continuing appreciation for the efforts funded by the University Foundation.

"Our Foundation has been a crucial part of our collective history," he noted. "They began their fundraising efforts two years before the University came into being because they recognized that our students would need financial support to achieve their educational goals. The addition of these two new programs demonstrates their continued commitment to access for those with need and those who have served our community and our country."

Established in 2009 as the 10th of 11 regional universities within The Texas A&M University System, A&M-Central Texas is the only upper-division public university in Texas, and one of only two in the nation, whose primary mission is to attract and serve the transfer student.
