COBA Highlight — Instruction by Professionals in Healthcare Administration

Meet Mr. Hugh Brown, Adjunct Professor teaching Healthcare Administration and Strategy at Texas A&M University-Central Texas. Hugh Brown is the Chief Executive Officer of St. David’s Georgetown Hospital in Georgetown, Texas. He assumed his role in 2007, shortly after the hospital was acquired by St. David’s HealthCare, a partnership between HCA and the Austin-based St. David’s Foundation. In 2014 St. David’s HealthCare received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the highest quality award given to any business by the federal government. In addition, St. David’s Georgetown Hospital has specifically been recognized as a “100 Top Hospital”, as a “Top 5% Hospital in the U.S.” for clinical quality, and for continually receiving “A” Ratings on the Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety Score.

Mr. Hugh Brown
“I’ve had my experience with good and bad teachers, and Mr. Brown really sets the example for how teachers should be. He is responsive, passionate to properly prepare people entering the field, and he creates assignments that require higher level thinking and research from multiple sources. I got a lot out of this course and it’s because of the effort Mr. Brown puts into preparing, implementing and grading (personal response reflections) his lessons.”
