Computer Information Systems
Program Overview
This degree program is STEM-coded. International students studying on an F-1 visa may be eligible for 12 months of Optional Practice Training Extension and an additional 24-month STEM OPT extension.
The Computer Information Systems program is geared towards computer system applications in management situations. Graduates often find careers in cybersecurity, software engineering/development, and related fields.
Coursework builds student proficiency in computing, operating systems, programming languages, website design, tech support, business analysis, networking and data design and infrastructure. The BS Computer information systems degree offers high growth potential as technology is an integral part in serving businesses worldwide.

The BS Computer Information Systems program allows you to pursue a concentration in some of the world’s most in-demand career specialties, or generalize without a concentration.
*Note: Online-only degree completion is available for the BS, Computer Information Systems degree without concentration. Other concentrations may require some on-campus instruction.

- Programming: Achieve expertise in programming languages such as Java, C++, C#, Visual Basic, HTML, CSS and Java Script to create software applications and design websites for businesses. Similarly, become an expert in software development technologies such as Visual Studio and Visio
- Database Design and Development: Design and develop database applications using SQL and PL/SQL to create and manage databases.
- Quantitative Communication and Processing: Inspect, clean and model data to create useful information and provide expert solutions.
- Cybersecurity and Risk Management: Apply security techniques to protect the organizational information assets including business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
- IT Project Management and Infrastructure: Plan, schedule and manage information technology resources using Microsoft Project. Also, learn to install, configure and maintain Windows- and Linux-based systems including enterprise systems and virtual systems. Design and set up corporate networks using tools such as Wireshark and Packet Tracer.
