The Associate of Science (AS) is designed to align closely with the first half of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.  Students should follow the

pre-major AS to BS Transfer Advising Guide for the major and university selected.  The Transfer Advising Guides are developed in

conjunction with the senior institution to which the student plans to transfer.

To be awarded the AS degree at one of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District, students must have 9 hours of AS Approved Course

Requirements not included in the 42 hours of Core Curriculum.  Please check with your advisor for assistance.

Texas Transfer Framework: Field of Study Curriculum (FOSC) Information

Field of Study Curriculum (FOSC) is a set of courses that fulfill lower-division (freshman and sophomore) requirements for a specific

major/degree plan in addition to the core curriculum. FOSCs are guaranteed to transfer to any public college or university in Texas.

The Fields of Study now part of Texas Direct.  What is Texas Direct? Texas Direct is the state's effort to articulate seamless degree

pathways between two- and four-year institutions.

Students who complete the Texas Core Curriculum and Field of Study at any public two-year institution automatically qualify to receive an

associate degree - the Texas Direct Transfer Degree. They are also qualified to transfer their courses as a block applied directly to their

selected major.

Things to do and remember upon Admission to Texas A&M University - Central Texas

Make an appointment with the academic advisor of the major, once accepted to Texas A&M University - Central Texas, in order to

clarify department, college and university policies and procedures, to review course sequencing and to help with identifying resources

Pay close attention to course sequencing and availability at Texas A&M University - Central Texas as it will affect the time it takes to

complete the degree program.

Transfer of Credit

Community college courses may not transfer into TAMUCT as upper-division courses (3000-4000 level), even though TAMUCT may have

an upper-division course with exactly the same name and description. Community college courses may not be used to fulfill the upper-

division requirement for graduation at TAMUCT. However, the course may be used as a substitute for an upper-division course with an

approved substitution form signed by the chair and dean. 

Affordability

Based on 2019-2020 reported average tuition and fees, Texas A&M University-Central Texas is the second most affordable institution in

the state of Texas for full-time undergraduate students.  Students are not only able to take advantage of guaranteed tuition plans to control

the cost of their education, but A&M-Central Texas's Bachelor Bonus caps tuition and mandatory fees at 12 semester credit hours.  Learn

Texas Education Code § 54.014 specifies that resident undergraduate students who initially enrolled fall 1999 and later may be subject

to a higher tuition rate for attempting excessive hours at any public institution of higher education while classified as a resident student for
