THEA Requirements

All applicants to the Teacher Education Program must take and pass the Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) (formerly called TASP) or an approved alternative before being admitted to the Program. Approved alternatives include the ACCUPLACER, Asset, or Compass. Applicants must pass all three parts of the assessment prior to the end of the application semester, but test types and dates may be combined. There is no expiration date on the age of these assessments.
