Dr. Jerry Jones

Jerry W. Jones is the founding dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and professor of history at Texas A&M University – Central Texas. He received his Ph.D. in history from the University of North Texas in 1995. His specialties are military history, diplomacy, and modern European history. He started the Social Sciences Program for the University of Central Texas in 1996. In 1999 he joined Tarleton State University Central Texas and introduced the MA in history at Killeen. In 2001 he was appointed to the Academy of Educator Faculty, part of the Texas A&M University System Regents’ Initiative for Excellence in Educator Preparation. He was recognized as Distinguished Graduate Faculty in 2013. He was the first chair of the department of Humanities at TAMUCT. He is the author of U.S. Battleship Operations in World War I, published by the U.S. Naval Institute in 1998. He has published in the Naval War College Review, and has served as a guest lecturer for the U.S. Naval War College Fleet Seminar Program since 2002. In January 2011 he was featured in a lecture series on American History TV.
