Texas A&M University - Central Texas Correctional education Program

Texas A&M University - Central Texas provides post-secondary education opportunities to offenders in  Texas Department of Criminal Justice facilities in Gatesville, Texas. Through the A&M-Central Texas Correctional Education Program, offenders have an opportunity to pursue two bachelor's degrees:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration – Management (BBA – Management): provides general exposure to major business disciplines, such as accounting, economics, finance, and marketing.
  • Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences-Business (BAAS – Business): provides the opportunity for students, who have earned technical, vocational, or military education and training, to complete a baccalaureate degree in business.


Texas A&M University-Central Texas is a regionally accredited university offering junior and senior-level coursework needed to complete a baccalaureate degree successfully. Prospective students applying for undergraduate admission must meet the following admission:

  • Minimum 2.0 cumulative transfer GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Minimum 30 academic, college-level transferable semester hours*
  • Must be eligible to return to all previously attended institutions

*Applicants pursuing an Applied Science or Aviation Science degree may meet this requirement utilizing select workforce education credit from an approved Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree upon completion of 45 hours, to include all general education courses within the AAS.

Step 2: Submit Official Transcripts

You must submit official transcripts from all previously attended colleges/universities to Texas A&M University-Central Texas before an admissions decision can be made. Failure to provide all transcripts will delay your admissions process.

Transcripts must be received in a sealed envelope either from the issuing institution or hand-delivered to Undergraduate Admissions.

For assistance in retrieving transcripts from another institution, complete the College Verification Form included and return with your completed application.

If your previous institution(s) participate in the sending of secure electronic documents (eScrip-Safe, National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment, or Credentials Solutions), transcripts can be sent electronically to the Undergraduate Admissions email address:

Step 3: Admission Decision

Notification of your admission decision will be mailed. Once admitted, students will meet with a University Representative to complete the enrollment process.

What to Expect

The Correctional Education Program is designed with an automatic continuous registration plan. Once a student has been admitted, they will be assigned to a cohort.

A sequence of courses has been established for each cohort, and students are automatically enrolled each semester.

By registering, students agree to be enrolled in the current cohort and take two courses per semester until degree completion.

Estimated Cost of Tuition & Fees

Texas A&M University-Central Texas is committed to establishing tuition and fee options that allow students to plan for the cost of their education, complete their degree and provide an accelerated degree completion for undergraduate students.

Beginning with the Fall 2016 semesters, new students must choose whether to enroll in the Warrior Guarantee tuition plan.  Students not enrolling in the Warrior Guarantee will be automatically enrolled in the Variable Rate Tuition Plan.

The Warrior Guarantee Tuition Plan

Students opting into The Warrior Guarantee will be assigned to a cohort based on classification for undergraduate students, or program length for graduate students, that guarantees that applicable charges to not change for a specified period of time.

Variable Rate Tuition Plan

Under the Variable Rate Tuition Plan, tuition and fee rates are established for an academic year and are subject to increase or decrease based on economic conditions, Board of Regents action, and/or legislative requirements.
