Community Counseling and Family Therapy Center

The Community Counseling and Family Therapy Center (CCFTC) serves as both a training facility for graduate students in the Department of Counseling and Psychology as a form of counseling services to the local community. Quality counseling for individuals, couples and families is provided on a sliding scale. Clients receive the highest quality of services from clinicians-in training under the supervision of University faculty licensed to practice in various fields of mental health (Professional Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapy. Faculty, staff, and students have a legal and ethical responsibility to provide professional, high quality services for clients who seek our services.

  • Appointments for counseling/therapy may be made by calling or coming by the Counseling Services at Warrior Hall
  • The Community Counseling and Family Therapy Center is open Monday - Thursday, 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Counseling is by appointment only.
  • Every effort will be made to schedule an appointment at the earliest time available and at the client’s convenience.
  • Clients are asked to call 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time if they are unable to keep their appointment.

First Session

During the initial appointment to the Community Counseling and Family Therapy Center, visitors will receive a client information brochure and initial intake forms to complete. Therefore, visitors should plan for the initial intake session to last approximately 90 minutes.

Session Length

All individual appointments are scheduled as 50-minute sessions unless otherwise noted by the counselor. Family/couple sessions are scheduled for 50 minutes.

Session Limit

  • The clinic does not have a predetermined limit for the number of sessions a client may be seen for counseling.
  • Limits are determined by the clinician in training and in accordance with ethical standards provided by licensing boards.
  • Clients requiring long-term intensive therapy will be referred to services available in the community.


In order to accommodate the needs of clients with limited resources, the Community Counseling and Family Therapy Center offers high quality services on a sliding scale based on a client's household size and income. Fees range from $5.00 to $35.00 per session and are determined when a client's first therapy session is scheduled.


  • Counseling Services is not able to provide treatment for substance abuse or serious chronic psychiatric disorders.
  • Individuals requesting such treatment will be referred to other services available in the community.
  • Costs of these services will be the responsibility of the client.
  • The Community Counseling and Family Therapy Center does not provide psychological, psychiatric, or disability evaluations.
  • Individuals needing evaluations, assessments for legal purposes, or expert testimony in court should employ the services of professionals in the community.
