VetSuccess On Campus

The VetSuccess on Campus Program

The VetSuccess on Campus program is a collaborative effort between Texas A&M University-Central Texas (TAMUCT) and the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) with the purpose of providing a supportive, on-campus environment where Veteran-students may gather to obtain assistance and peer support. The goal of the program is to assist Veteran-students to make a smooth transition to college life and to successfully complete their educational programs.

The VA has placed a full-time, experienced Vocational Counselor on the TAMUCT campus. This counselor will serve as a "one-stop liaison" for Veterans, active duty military and their eligible family members who attend or plan to attend TAMUCT. Texas A&M University-Central Texas was chosen as one of the first seven schools in the nation to have an on-campus counselor from the Department of veterans Affairs.

Your VetSuccess on Campus Counselor can assist you with:

  • Information on VA educational benefits to include the Montgomery G.I. Bill (Chapter 30), Post 9/11 G.I Bill (Chapter 33), and other VA and non-VA educational benefits
  • Information, guidance and support while using your VA educational benefits
  • Accessing, understanding and applying for VA benefits to include Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment, disability compensation, Life Insurance, Home Loan Guaranty and other benefits and services
  • Transition support services
  • Vocational exploration and career counseling services
  • Assistance with electing healthcare benefits through the Veterans Health Administration (VHA)
  • Information, and referrals for VA medical and mental health services
  • Referrals for readjustment counseling services for eligible veterans and their family members
  • Job placement assistance and coordination with local Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (DVOP) specialists and Local Veterans Employment Representatives (LVER).
  • Referrals to on-campus, community and VA resources to ensure academic success

Attention: Post 9/11 G.I. Bill (Chapter 33) Recipients

If you served in the Army National Guard or Air National Guard and are currently receiving less than 100% benefits under Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 G.I. Bill), you need to read this.

COMBAT the Rising Cost of Textbooks!

If you are a Veteran or a current member of the U.S. Armed Forces, you are eligible to participate in the newly created VetSuccess Textbook Exchange Program (V-TEP). To become a participating member, Veterans and service members must donate at least 1 textbook to the program, which entitles them to check out books for their current and future semesters for FREE! While only Veterans and active service members are eligible to check out books, the Veterans Affairs Center will gladly accept textbooks from any source.

For more information on supporting the VetSuccess Textbook Exchange Program or becoming a member, please contact the Veterans Affairs Center at (254) 519-5423 or stop by room FH 221.
