Dinner with Dreyfuss: Civics & Civility

Join Oxford Senior Researcher and Academy Award winner Mr. Richard Dreyfuss and TAMUCT Associate Provost Dr. Russ Porter for a discussion over the call to eliminate inequalities through education at "Dinner with Dreyfuss". Utilizing the Dreyfuss Civics Curriculum™ and Civic Clubs®, participants will be equipped and inspired to improve civics and civility issues while helping to shape a national model for civics education. Specific curricula, policy recommendations and relevant participant input will be explored and deliberated. Cost: $95 per person until 2/28 and $125 per person thereafter. The theme of Warrior Week 2014 is "Moving Together" and the week will culminate with the inaugural edition of the Warrior Way 5K benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project! The Lookout: A Journal of Literature and the Arts

The Lookout will be published annually by the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas A&M University – Central Texas and features poetry, short fiction, creative non-fiction, and visual art submitted by current students and recent alumni of TAMUCT.

Any student currently enrolled in classes at TAMUCT (or recent graduates) may submit their previously unpublished creative writing or black-and-white photography/art work for possible publication in The Lookout in the spring. The deadline to submit is March 15th, so don't wait!

Showcase your Art

The newly-established TAMUCT Warrior Artists Guild is putting together an art exhibit for our upcoming Warrior Week, and we would like to feature YOUR work. We are seeking any original items that students, faculty, and staff members of the TAMUCT community have created, including (but not limited to) paintings, graphic design, drawings, photography, sculpture, poetry, mixed media, as well as fine craft items such as fashion design, quilting, pottery, or leather-work.

To be considered for the exhibit, please email Dr. Brad Almond (brad.almond@ct.tamus.edu) or Crystal Ferreira (crystalmessina@gmail.com) with the following information:

  • a photo of the item (if poetry, please send the text instead)
  • a title (if applicable)
  • dimensions of the item (e.g., 24 inches x 36 inches)
  • materials or media (e.g., oil on canvas)
  • a brief description of the origin/history and meaning of the item--whatever you think would be interesting or helpful to viewers

All submissions must be received by February 28th to be considered for the exhibit.

Snitches and Informants: An Evening with J. Mitchell Miller

The TAMUCT College of Arts and Sciences and Criminal Justice faculty proudly present an evening with national award winning criminologist, J. Mitchell Miller. At 7:00 P.M., on Thursday, March 6th, Professor Miller will be discussing the topic of confidential informing, commonly known to the layperson as "snitching." This presentation be held in the Beck Lecture Hall and refreshments will be served. This presentation is free and open to the public; and all students, faculty, and staff are strongly encouraged to attend.
